| On April 30, 2005, the Richmond Greens (Juan Reardon, Jesus del Toro), Casa Esperanza (Sandra Rodriguez) and Centro Legal (Carlos Mares) organized the Breakfast of Hope and Learning. The 7:30 a.m. event was held at a popular location for day laborers to gather in Richmond, in front of Home Depot. Pastries and hot chocolate were provided by Casa Esperanza (Richmond) and orange juice provided by the Greens. Some jornaleros spoke in appreciation and expressed their concerns for police raids which took place at the Vallejo Home-Depot in the last weeks, where jornaleros with some type of ID were fined $100 and jornaleros without ID were taken to jail. | |
